Believe Your Way into Your Feelings.
Short Answer
What we believe, think, and trust to be true in life must control how we feel in life.
If you allow how you feel to control what you believe, think, and trust in life then your beliefs will always be changing.
Don’t feel your way into your beliefs; believe your way into your feelings.
Long Answer
What we believe, think, and trust to be true in life must control how we feel in life.
If you allow how you feel to control what you believe, think, and trust in life then your beliefs will always be changing.
Don’t feel your way into your beliefs; believe your way into your feelings.
Here Is A Real-Life Example:
Life is hard and I experience a lot of pain. Bad things happen to me and to people around me. A lot of days I do not feel like God is good or that God loves me.
Is God good? Does God love me?
An Answer Based on What You Feel
It does not feel like God is good and I do not feel like God loves me, therefore, God is not good and God does not love me.
Tomorrow, I may feel differently, but that is how I feel today.
An Answer Based on What You Believe, Think, and Trust
God has told you through the Bible that He is good.
Psalm 100 verse 5 says, "For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations." (NKJV)
God has told you through the Bible that He will always love you and will never forsake you.
Hebrews chapter 13 verse 5 says, "... For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NKJV)
God has demonstrated His love for you by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross in your place.
You deserve never-ending punishment for how you have disobeyed God, but God offers you complete forgiveness and never-ending life if you turn away from your evil thoughts and actions and truly believe in Jesus as the one who is in control of your life and helps you to think and do good things.
Romans chapter 5 verse 8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (NKJV)
Actions speak louder than words. Jesus loves you so much that He died for you. What can say, “I love you!” more than that?
So, when your life is hard, bad things happen to you, and God does not feel good or loving, you can let what you believe, think, and trust about God control how you feel about Him and about life in general.
"Feelings do not drive our faith. The fact of Jesus’ death and resurrection drives our faith. That means that feelings are the fruit of faith, not the source of it." – J.D. Greear
