Q. Can anyone receive Salvation? Q. Can one be so bad that they lose it, or they no longer qualify?
Q. What do I have to do to get it or keep it?
Salvation restores mans relationship with God. Because of sin man, was/is, separate from God, and dead in the Spirit. God's price for sin is death, no one can live a life without sin so everyone is guilty. It's a pass or fail system, one sin no matter how small, and you fall short of the standard. Because of sin we became enemies of God, but because of the death of Jesus, we are reconciled (Rom. 5:10). Jesus died for everyone's sins, but it isn't automatic, you must receive the gift. This gift can't be received by a Baptism as a baby, or by being born into a Christian family. You won't receive it by singing certain songs, or hanging around in a church. You can't be good enough to earn it, or rich enough to buy it. You can't order it on line, or phone in a request. Once you have been saved, and have received Salvation, you are then what is referred to as born again (John 3:3-8). If that term scares you because of the negative slant the world has tied to it, then think of it as regeneration (Titus 3:5). Either term means that you have entered a new family. A family of God. You are a new person. Just think no matter how small, bad, dumb, or unloved YOU think you are, you can become a rightful child of God. Salvation lifts you up out of the muck of this world, and lets you be part of a small group, that will inherited a Kingdom. When you receive Salvation, at that moment you have a conversion. The conversion changes you from a sinner, to a saint (no, the Pope has nothing to do with it). Because of the flesh, we will still be temped, and at times fall to that temptation of sin. We aren't free of sin at this point, but we are free of the penalty, which is death. We are free of that penalty not because what we do isn't sin anymore, but because the penalty has been paid for by Jesus. Jesus, by his death has laid into our accounts all that is every needed to offset any debt we could amass. Once you have received Salvation another thing happens. A persona of God called the Holy Spirit comes to indwell you. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity, and is God Himself. The Holy Spirit now works in you to make you more "Christ like". What he is doing is helping you grow into a person that is separate from this world. Not so you can move to the mountains and eat pinecones, or lock yourself in your house never to associate in the outside world. We are called to be in the world, just not part of it. In church speak this is called "Sanctification", to be made separate for God. This doesn't mean you will get the desire to grease your hair back, wear polyester and white buckskin loafers (unless that's what you liked before). In fact how much you change is up to you. God is very polite and won't force you to do anything, but once you have received Salvation, you'll find you start to have a desire to change. Go with it for it's not without it's rewards. Those rewards can be felt, and some are banked for a later day. Salvation comes by Faith (Mark 1:15, Heb. 11:1-6), and Faith comes by the Word of God. The Word is the Bible and is Jesus Himself (John 1:1). Once you have Salvation you are also Justified. Justification is by Faith alone (Rom. 321-5:21; Gal. 3:1-4:31). To receive the gift of Salvation, to become Justified before God, to start this conversion you don't need a class, a guru, to give money in a plate, go to church, watch a televangelist, or anything out side of just taking it. It's free and waiting. To accept it you just need to have Faith in Jesus alone. Faith in Jesus is believing in the the historic facts and deeds of what He did. Believing that He came to save you by offering himself as payment for your sins, and having faith in those beliefs. But you must know who this Jesus is and accept this gift. God made it easy for us to know Him, by telling us of Him, in the Bible. Don't be fooled by the false ones, many have come and many more will. If you aren't sure who Jesus is, check out Who is Jesus? . Once you have done that God no longer sees the sins that you have done, but sees the blood that Jesus shed on your behalf. The righteousness of Jesus then is credited to the sinner. A number of years ago a term started to float around, "paying it forward". It's the idea that you do something good or kind, for no gain at that time, on you behalf. They had a movie with the title, and some TV shows about it. The world thought this was such a great idea. Well in a sense God so loved us He "paid it forward" on our behalf, by giving His only Son (John 3:16). If God did so much for us, has loved us so greatly, and required so little in return, is it so much to ask from us, to just accept a gift? So little required yet so few will do it, don't be one of them. Just click on the link below and start a whole new life.
